Dr. Shane Smith
“I opened this clinic with one idea in mind: a place where people come to get well, not get managed.”
Dr. Shane Smith is the owner of Source Point Care. He sees a limited number of established patients while building his second venture, True U. New patients work with Dr. Jason Gonzales, the clinic director.

How I found upper cervical care.
A few years into chiropractic school, I sat through more than a hundred doctors telling their best stories. Different techniques, different philosophies, different specialties. But almost every one of them ended their talk the same way: “If all else fails, look at the Atlas.”
I kept hearing it. Eventually I asked the obvious question: if that’s where the answer keeps showing up, why not start there?
I went looking and found that upper cervical chiropractic wasn’t a fringe specialty. It was the foundation of chiropractic itself. The Atlas, the top bone in the neck, matters not because of the bone but because of what it encases: the brain stem. The brain stem holds the toggle switch between fight or flight and rest and digest, the two modes that determine whether your body is locked in stress or free to heal.
When the Atlas is adjusted to the right place at the right time, the body becomes more adaptive. That’s what I’ve been doing in this office since 2006.
What I believe about patient care
We can’t change the stressors you face day to day. But if we can help you adapt and overcome them, you’re going to live a much healthier life.
That’s how I frame the work. Not as a cure. Not as a quick fix. As a partnership.
I want patients to walk out of this office feeling three things: heard, fought for, and walked with. Most of the people who find their way here are frustrated, scared, sometimes hopeless after years of doctors who didn’t have answers. The job, as I see it, is to guide them with patience and integrity from where they are now to the top of their own healing journey.
I don’t oversell. I don’t claim to be the end-all be-all. I’m just a cog in the wheel of people trying to help patients get their life back.
The thing I want most for patients is the realization that they are bigger than their symptoms, and that their body can heal itself when given the right input at the right time.
Training and background
I graduated from Life West Chiropractic College, the same school Dr. Jason attended. My upper cervical training is in the Knee Chest Specific technique, completed through the Art of the Specific program after Life West.
I opened this clinic in 2006 as a dedicated upper cervical practice and have been adjusting Atlases here ever since.
In January 2026, I opened True U, a health restoration, tissue regeneration, and longevity practice right next door. Most of my clinical attention now goes there.
Outside the office
I live in Paradise with my wife and three kids, all homeschooled, with the oldest recently graduated. We keep chickens, work the garden, and spend most weekends with family and friends, often around the pool or a barbecue.
I’m an outdoor kid at heart. I snowboard, travel, and am constantly exploring the pockets of wilderness the North State has to offer.
Can we help you?
If anything I’ve shared resonates, the next step is the same one we offer everyone. A free, fifteen-minute screening to find out if your symptoms are coming from a nervous system stuck in fight or flight. If they are, we have a clear protocol. If they’re not, we’ll tell you that directly.
15 minutes to find out if we can help you, or not.
