The most precise adjustment in chiropractic.
Upper cervical chiropractic care focuses on the top two bones of your neck, C1 and C2, the atlas and axis. It is one of the most specific approaches in all of chiropractic, and it is the core of what we do here.
“If you only adjust the upper neck then do I have to go somewhere else to get my mid back or lower back adjusted?”
Most of our patients find that they don’t need the general chiropractic adjustments in their lower back or mid back they used to get once their upper neck is properly adjusted. Your spine often hurts where it’s being forced to compensate, not where it’s actually stuck. Before coming to work with us, many of our patients had dozens of general adjustments all over their spine and found the results to be very temporary.
The key to a spine that feels great from top to bottom is finding and releasing the joints that are actually stuck, not just twisting and shoving where it hurts.
We do not push, shove, crack, or twist your whole spine. We find the one joint that is stuck, confirm it with objective testing, and make a precise, gentle adjustment only when the measurements say it is needed. Then your body does what it is designed to do: return to balance.
We measure. We don’t guess.
Most adjustments are decided by what the chiropractor claims they feel and where the patient thinks they need an adjustment. Ours are decided by objective data. Before we make an adjustment, we look at thermography scans, we’ve analyzed the biomechanical x-rays, and we’ve been cleared by a radiologist, so we know exactly where the problem is and whether an adjustment is needed. The goal isn’t just pain relief, it’s to have a lasting effect on the whole body.
The technique we use:
Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific
There are a few different upper cervical techniques. We use one called Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific. There are some minor differences between the various techniques, but they all have the same focus and goal:
- Adjust C1 or C2, the atlas or axis, in a way that holds, so it needs correcting as few times as possible.
- Use x-rays and sensitive testing to know precisely when to adjust and when to leave the patient alone
In the technique we use the adjustment is delivered by hand, quickly and precisely, with no twisting, no cracking of the whole spine, and no force beyond what the adjustment requires. It is one of the most specific adjustments in chiropractic, which is exactly why it fits how we work. When you have measured the problem down to a single joint, you want to address just that joint, and nothing else.
Is this the right approach for you?
We work really well with some patients and for some we’re not a good fit.
We’re a good match if you …
- Have chronic headaches, dizziness, anxiety, jaw tension, or other symptoms that standard care hasn’t helped.
- Want to get to the root of the problem, not just temporary relief.
- Are willing to follow a structured course of care if the screening shows we can help.
- Can trust the testing process and our decisions about when to adjust and when to stop.
You might get frustrated if …
- Expect immediate pain relief or an adjustment every place you have pain.
- Want adjustments on every visit, even when the tests indicate you don’t need one.
- Want us to bill your insurance. You can use an HSA or FSA policy, but we don’t bill traditional insurance plans.
- Want to try just one or two visits to see if you like it. This process takes time.
The first step is the same for everyone.
You don’t have to know whether upper cervical care is your answer. That’s what the testing is for. It takes about fifteen minutes to find out whether your nervous system is the problem, and whether we’re the right people to help. If we’re not, we’ll tell you.
